POTPOURRI OF HARMONY (Retrospective: VOLUME 3
    Hello friends!
You hold in your hands disc 3 (and final) of the 3 disc "Potpourri Of Harmony" (Retrospective) series. When we first released the 2-disc P.O.H. set we figured that was it. It's a great "scratch the surface" compilation mostly for folks that would be new to my music. Many songs from each album were represented. Fan fav's, personal fav's, forgotten gems....etc. 40 tracks from 6 released albums with 11 "bonus" tracks/demos. But we also thought "man, we had to leave a ton of great tunes off of this thing." So, this is where Volume 3 comes in. I thought if there really are enough good tunes to make a disc that stands on its own (this may be the only disc people may have of my stuff)...I'll do it. I looked through the songs and lo & behold, we really did have enough tune-age to make a companion album (and a good one). 25 tracks @ 79:50! Actually, many of these tunes were suggested (from friends, fans) for the original 2-disc set. But we just didn't have enough room & it really seemed too much to take in all at once. After all, the 3 discs easily equal most box-sets...and more. We're talking 76 tunes in all!! That's nearly 4 hours. Yikes!!

So, I really want to thank the folks that grabbed the first (2-disc edition) and really made it a success. You know who you are, and more importantly...I know who you are! The same goes for YOU, the ones that added this (Volume 3) to your collection. Too many thanks to go around. So, if you have the "Potpourri of Harmony: Retrospective" 3-disc set, you've got big, big fun always ready to go!

    REVIEW
Gary Ritchie—Potpourri of Harmony, Volume 3 (The Good Music Club)

Potpourri of Harmony is a cornucopia of hummable, effervescent three minute power pop. Ritchie has an instantly identifiable sound due to his distinctive voice, penchant for descending melodies, and a balance of melody, bridge, and hook. He’s already released more power pop this year than most bands do in a lifetime. Potpourri holds twenty-five songs that hit the ground running and never let up. “Lonely Out In Space” is, like most of these songs, a fourth chord vocal harmony, bridge, hook, and sinker, perfect short guitar solo. Traces of early Beatles in “Because, Because,” Plimsouls thrust in “Matter of Time,” Beatlesque vocal flourishes in “Here We Go Again.” The segue between “Girl Like You” and “Real Good Feeling” is particularly sweet. When the mood changes from romance to rue, so does the music. “Living On Lies” doesn’t sound like the standard Ritchie song and “Friend Of Old” is a mournful song about loss. “Record Store” contains the immortal line, “I don’t want another loser from the record store.” He never disappoints.

about

Gary Ritchie Texas

Gary's "real" instrument would be drums. But, he is a full, fledged Pop guy. Plays most of the instruments & vocals on his albums. Along with Jeff King who plays bass & guitar on all the albums. A former Chicagoan now living in Austin, Texas. Loves a melody with a Big-Beat behind it. With 5 full length solo cd's behind him, he's loving the freedom of recording what and when he wants. So enjoy! ... more
