Hum, Sing...Repeat; I spent my milk money to get a 45 Those little revolvers brought me alive I got my first record down on Pulaski road And made a reputation at the Armitage show You're waiting for the one you know When Art played it on the radio-0-0 Hum sing and repeat to hear the top 3 was a treat We waited all day and most of the night To hum sing and repeat Total domination from the English boys We were glad all over they made a real good noise The Grapes made a racket The Truth followed behind Drake near the alley was the scene of the crime At 10 o'clock it's time to go A new one made it to the radio-0-0 Hum sing and repeat to hear the top 3 was a treat We waited all day and most of the night To hum sing and repeat Those days are long behind me but always close at hand

Charming Life; Don't I know you I think I know you You were the one from years ago long past I thought you cool, you thought me foolish We'll sit right here I'll tell you something fast Well things have changed since we were juniors And that alone to you is something new So stick around for just a minute And I will tell you what I've been up to I've been living a charming life I've got 2 cars and had three wives I've got more money than I can stand Listen to me I'm sure you don't understand Yes I'm living a charming life Don't need to work it fits just right I've got more money than I can spend Listen to me I'll see you around the bend It's getting late I better go now People like me have lots of things to do Though it was nice while it lasted I can't be seen with the likes of you I've been living a charming life I've got 2 cars and had three wives

A COUPLE -O- REVIEWS.....REVIEWS.....REVIEWS!!

Groovy Stuff with plenty of Cool Vibes!
More groovy underground guitar-driven pop/rock from Wimberley, Texas recording artist Gary Ritchie. Gary isn't afraid of letting his fans know who his influences are, as his albums include a handy list for easy reference. This time around folks who have influenced his sound include The Nobles, The Grapes of Wrath (one of our favorites), Sluggo, The U.M.F.'s, Malchick, Loose Lips, and more. Unlike a lot of independent artists, Ritchie's music has a great deal of commercial appeal. Almost all of the tunes on "Drake, Near The Alley" sound like oughta-be hits. The mood is upbeat and positive...and Gary's got a voice that really makes his songs sizzle. Plus...the guitars always hit the target. Fifteen meaty tracks here including "Hum, Sing, Repeat," "Back To You," and "Pull Your String." Groovy stuff with plenty of cool vibes.

A TERRIFIC collection of songs! Rock on Ritchie!
Gary Ritchie “Drake, Near The Alley” 9/5/2013
Chicago based Gary Ritchie gives us a follow-up to Hum, Sing, Repeat from 2011. This time we start with the title track from his last album “Hum, Sing, Repeat,” a loving nostalgic look at rock back in Richie’s childhood. With his partner in crime Jeff King (bass, guitar, keys) they play through a terrific collection of songs. “Victimized” and “Charming Life” are catchy melodies that compare well to The Romantics.
The band takes on early Beatles simplicity for “Hear My Pleas” and then it’s back to the guitar riffs of “Midnight Lovers,” which sounds like a lost Raspberries tune. Clearly Ritchie knows his classic power pop, as “Back To You” has some Badfinger-styled guitar. The quality of tracks vary after the mid point, but standouts include “Invisible Man” and “Pull Your String.” Rock on, Ritchie!

Plenty Of Hooks and Lots Of Jangle!
A second wow! Gary Ritchie already has an impressive power pop resume; "Drake, Near The Alley" further enriches his repertoire of masterful power pop tunes. Ritchie’s voice and songwriting remind me a lot of Bill Retoff – which means there are plenty of hooks and lots of jangle in these 15 tracks. Standout tunes include “Charming Life,” “Midnight Lovers,” “Do You Remember?” and “Here’s To You.” Each Gary Ritchie album is a welcome addition to my power pop music library.

Aspiring composer, Gary Ritchie combines like no one else the heritage of the best pop of the sixties, with the Beatles as the most obvious inescapable reference, with the energy of the new wave. His latest installment is undoubtedly among the best pop albums of the past year. An irresistible collection of catchy melodies perched on a network of wonderful six- and twelve-string guitars.

Gary Ritchie Texas

Gary's "real" instrument would be drums. But, he is a full, fledged Pop guy. Plays most of the instruments & vocals on his albums. Along with Jeff King who plays bass & guitar on all the albums. A former Chicagoan now living in Austin, Texas. Loves a melody with a Big-Beat behind it. With 5 full length solo cd's behind him, he's loving the freedom of recording what and when he wants. So enjoy! ... more
